  • Topic overlap: Check to see if there are already published articles on similar topics.

  • Keyword cannibalization: Avoid using the same keywords for multiple articles, as this can confuse search engines.

Key Questions to Localize Wire Stories

Here are some prompts to help you transform generic wire stories into engaging, locally relevant content.

Questions to address local audience

  • How does this story affect the daily life of UAE residents across different emirates?

    • Example: A global economic downturn - How will it impact the job market in Abu Dhabi, real estate in Dubai, or tourism in Sharjah?

  • What are the implications for the UAE's economy, society, or culture?

    • Example: A new technology breakthrough - How can it be integrated into the UAE's smart city initiatives in various emirates?

  • Are there any local businesses or individuals in different emirates who can provide expert commentary?

    • Example: A climate change report - Interview environmentalists from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah to get diverse perspectives.

UAE-Specific Angles

  • How does this story relate to the UAE's vision for the future, such as the UAE Centennial 2071?

    • Example: A global space exploration mission - How can the UAE align its space program with this broader goal?

    • Example: A data privacy scandal - Explore the UAE's data protection laws and compare them to global standards.

  • Can you find connections to different emirates within the UAE?

    • Example: A rise in remote work - How are different emirates adapting their infrastructure and policies to attract remote workers?

Adding Your Personal Touch

  • What is your unique perspective on this story within the UAE context?

    • Share your personal observations about the UAE's culture, society, or economy.

  • How can you tell this story in a way that is engaging and visually appealing to a UAE audience?

    • Consider using multimedia elements like photos, videos, or infographics that showcase different parts of the UAE.

  • What kind of tone or style would best suit this story and your UAE audience?

    • Be mindful of the UAE's diverse cultural and social fabric when choosing your tone.

Example: Localizing a Global News Story

  • Personal touch: Share personal experiences about food culture in the UAE, highlighting the diversity of culinary traditions.

Contrast  and compare to life in the UAE

When localizing wire stories for the UAE, it's you can not only identify the local angle but also to contrast and compare the UAE's situation with the global context. This approach provides a richer understanding of the story and adds depth to your reporting.

Use primary and longtail keywords

Your title should include the main keywords that people are likely to search for, as well as longtail keywords that are more specific to your topic.

Primary Keywords

  • Short and general: These are the core words or phrases that define your topic.

  • High search volume: Typically have a large number of monthly searches.

  • Competitive: Due to high popularity, there's often stiff competition for top search rankings.

Example: If you're writing an article about "Dubai restaurants," "Dubai" would be a primary keyword.

Longtail Keywords

  • Specific and descriptive: These are longer phrases that reflect a user's exact search intent.

  • Lower search volume: Usually have fewer monthly searches compared to primary keywords.

  • Less competition: Often easier to rank for due to lower competition.

Example: Continuing the "Dubai restaurants" topic, longtail keywords could be "best Italian restaurants in Dubai," "cheap vegetarian food Dubai," or "romantic dinner Dubai."

Identifying Keywords

  • Find keywords within Khaleej Times ðŸ”¥Hot Keywords🔥 database

  • Study top-ranking websites: Identify the keywords they're targeting.

  • Analyze their content: Understand how they use keywords within their articles and titles.

  • Consider their search behavior: What terms would they use to find your content?

  • Incorporate relevant terms: Use language that your target audience is familiar with.

  • Submit request for specific keywords - let our growth consultant know what you are writing about and they will get back to you with top, related opportunities.

Note: While primary keywords are important for overall visibility, longtail keywords often convert better as they target a more specific audience. A balanced approach, incorporating both types of keywords, is generally recommended.

Other Tips

  • Localize Keywords: Incorporate location-specific terms (e.g., Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah) to target a local audience.

  • Consider User Intent: Understand what users are looking for when searching for a particular keyword.

Example Title:

  • Primary Keyword: Dubai restaurants

  • Longtail Keyword: best Indian restaurants in Dubai

  • Potential Title: Best Indian Restaurants in Dubai: A Foodie's Guide to Authentic Flavors

More on Titles

Keep it concise

Aim for a title that is between 50 and 60 characters long. This will ensure that your entire title is displayed in search results

Avoid keyword cannibalization

This occurs when you have multiple articles on your website that target the same keyword. This can confuse search engines and make it difficult for your articles to rank. To avoid keyword cannibalization, make sure that your titles are unique and that they target different aspects of your topic

Use section names sparingly (UAE: TITLE)

While it can be helpful to use section names in your titles to indicate the category of your article, you should avoid doing this too often. Long titles that include section names can be off-putting to readers and may not rank as well in search results

Use Power Words

Include words that will grab attention and make people want to click on your article.

News-Focused Power Words

  • Immediacy: Breaking, Latest, Urgent, Now, Today, Exclusive

  • Impact: Shocking, Stunning, Dramatic, Revealed, Controversial

  • Trust: Trusted, Reliable, Authentic, Verified, Insider

Lifestyle-Focused Power Words

  • Desire: Luxury, Exclusive, Ultimate, Indulge, Discover

  • Value: Best, Top, Amazing, Incredible, Unbelievable

  • Action: Experience, Enjoy, Explore, Discover, Uncover

Business-Focused Power Words

  • Success: Profit, Growth, Achieve, Leader, Invest

  • Opportunity: Chance, Potential, Breakthrough, Solution, Future

  • Economy: Boost, Surge, Decline, Recovery, Stability

General Power Words

  • Curiosity: How-to, Secret, Revealed, Discover, Amazing

  • Urgency: Limited, Hurry, Now, Don't Miss, Act Fast

Example Headlines with Power Words:

  • News: Breaking News: UAE Announces Major Economic Reforms

  • Lifestyle: Discover the Ultimate Luxury Retreat in Dubai

  • Business: Invest Now: Real Estate Market Soars in Abu Dhabi
